Holloman Signs with Morehead State!
Illinois Central College baseball player Jared Holloman, a Morton High School alum, has signed with Morehead State, an NCAA Division I program located in Morehead, Ky.
Holloman transferred in to the ICC program in the Fall of 2013 after spending his freshman year at Grace University in Indiana.
After missing the early part of the 2014 season with arm fatigue, Holloman rebounded to join the Cougars starting rotation by the end of the season. In 30 innings, he posted a 1.50 ERA, including two complete-game efforts with 29 strikeouts and 3 walks.
“You could see this coming for Jared,” ICC Head Coach Brett Kelley said. “His fall and early spring were a little rough, but you could see him quickly rounding back in to shape. This is a tremendous reward for Jared because he put in a ton of hard work in the classroom, in the weight room and on the field.”
Holloman was named NJCAA Division II Pitcher of the Week for the week of April 21-27 after he tossed a one-hitter with 12 strikeouts and 1 walk against Spoon River College in his first start for the Cougars. He went to earn honorable mention all-Mid-West Athletic Conference honors for his exploits on the field and a spot on the M-WAC’s all-academic team for his exploits in the classroom, where he carried a 3.8 GPA.
“No matter whether it was academics, weight work or pitching, Jared took care of business and did things the right way,” Kelley said. “He’s a role model for how our kids should approach their academics and their athletics.”
Holloman is a 2012 graduate of Morton High School, where he earned all-Mid-Illini Conference honors after posting a 9-0 record with a 1.77 ERA as a senior.
