Illinois Central College’s men’s golf head coach, Bo Ryan, begins his fifth season with the Cougars. Ryan came to ICC after more than two decades of coaching success at Bradley University. Retiring from Bradley University in June of 2010, Ryan accepted the opportunity to coach golf at ICC in July of the same year.

At Bradley, Ryan’s greatest success came with the women’s team. His teams won four Missouri Valley Conference tiles and made three NCAA appearances. His 1999 team was the first women’s team at BU to capture an outright MVC title. His men’s fourth-place finish in the Missouri Valley Conference still remains the best finish for a men’s team since 1986.

Known as a “players coach,” Ryan possesses a unique ability to communicate with his team members about both golf and school issues and relate to each one on a personal basis as well. At Bradley, his program produced more than 20 all-conference players and an equal number of academic all-conference selections.

Ryan helped host and orchestrate the 1993, 1999 and 2007 women’s Missouri Valley Conference Golf Championships as well as securing the site and directing the 1996 MVC Men’s Golf Championship at Annbriar Golf Club in Waterloo, Ill. At ICC, Ryan serves as the chair of the Mid-West Conference Golf Committee.

Ryan and his wife Liz, a former Gateway/MVC All-Conference softball player, have four daughters: Keegan, a senior at Bradley, Cagney, a sophomore at ICC, Delainey and Chandler.
