Heather Doty enters her eighth season as head softball coach at ICC. Doty has guided the Cougars to an several winning seasons securing a berth in the 2009 national tournament as well as placing 5th in the 2012 and fourth in the 2013 National Tournaments. A native of Iowa City, Iowa, Doty played collegiately at Bradley University where she still appears the record books. Her 31 career victories are sixth all time and she ranks fourth in career strikeouts with 366. In 1997, she struck out 197 hitters, good for sixth all-time in the college’s history, and earned a place on the Missouri Valley Conference all-tournament team. After completing her career on the hilltop, Doty began her coaching career. She served as an assistant volleyball coach at Morton High School, head softball coach at Normal University High School, assistant softball and volleyball coach at Millikin University in Decatur and head softball and volleyball coach at Northland College in Ashland, Wis. She is married to Robert Doty and they have two sons, Isaiah and Lucas.
Washington native Kathy Holzhauer enters her eighth year on the ICC staff. She is in charge of the Cougars’ catchers and outfielders. Her catching background is strong – she caught as a member of the Washington Community High School team that finished third at the 1989 IHSA state finals. Not long after her high-school career ended, Holzhauer began her coaching career, beginning with Junior Olympic teams in 1990. She earned her first berth in the ASA Nationals in 1992. Since then, her teams have traveled extensively, playing tournaments in Hawaii, Florida, Georgia, Texas and Kansas. She and her husband, Roger, married in 1994 and opened TeamWorks apparel shop in Washington in 2003. Holzhauer currently sits on the Board of Directors of the Northern Tazewell Recreation Association.
